Resistance is messy. It is the fear of making no friends in the first year of college, starting off from the bad books of professors, facing a hundred stares and whispers every time you walk down the academic spine and questioning yourself again and again, getting very little reassurance.
All of us see what’s wrong and what needs to be changed, but few have the strength to stand up against it, especially when the fear of consequences feels so real and so close. Resistance is the strength to stand up for what you believe in despite that fear. It is not an easy thing, especially in a place like college where sometimes the need to be liked can trump all other emotions.
This post is dedicated to all those who haven’t let their fear hold them back, those who stand up for what they believe in and show resistance in college in their own way.
